RTPD welcomes officers Michael Irey and Jeffrey Ward to the force

The Radnor Township Police Department family is growing, and its staff wants to celebrate its new additions. Recently, the department took to Facebook to show off the new officers added to the roster.

“Radnor Township Police Department is proud to announce and warmly welcome Officer Michael Irey and Officer Jeffrey Ward to our department,” said a post by the department marked Feb. 16. “Both officers bring strong professional backgrounds, valuable experience, and a deep commitment to public service.”

Officer Michael Irey is a December 2025 graduate of the Delaware County Municipal Police Academy. The department said that Irey joined Radnor Township following his service as a part-time police officer with the Upland Borough Police Department.

“Officer Irey comes from a distinguished law enforcement family. With a solid foundation in training and a lifelong exposure to the law enforcement profession, Officer Irey brings dedication, integrity, and enthusiasm to his new role with Radnor Township,” said the post from the department.

Officer Jeffrey Ward joins the department with extensive law enforcement and tactical experience. He previously served with the University of Pennsylvania Police Department, where he held the rank of Sergeant. In addition to his supervisory responsibilities, Officer Ward served as an instructor for the National Tactical Officers Association, specializing in active shooter response training. He is also a certified firearms instructor, Field Training Officer, and radiation detection instructor.

“His depth of knowledge and leadership experience will be a tremendous asset to both our officers and the community,” said the department’s post. “Officer Ward resides in the area with his wife, Christina, and their two-year-old son.”

The two were welcomed during the recent swear-in, joined by their families.

“Please join us in welcoming Officer Irey and Officer Ward to Radnor Township,” said the department’s post.
