RTSD accepts ‘GIANT’ check for the Feeding Kids Initiative

It may seem like just pennies here and there, but that change really does add up. In fact, a recent round-up at the register event at one local grocer netted the Radnor Township School District change to help create change.

GIANT St. David’s Store Employment Associate, Kelly Holton, and Assistant Store Manager, Desiree Largo, recently visited Ithan Elementary School, and they didn’t come empty handed.

The duo was there to present a donation of $8,261.80 to RTSD.

Also in attendance were student representatives, RTSD Superintendent Ken Batchelor, IES Principal John Wagner, RTSD Food Service Coordinator Tara Andrews, Nutritional Services Team Member Kin Fong, and Supervisor of Nutritional Services Beth Cooke, who “helped coordinate the district’s participation in the GIANT Feeding School Kids program,” said a press release from the district

“With support from the GIANT Feeding School Kids initiative, RTSD Nutritional Services will use the funds to provide grocery bag pick up for families in need during the summer of 2026,” said the release. “Bags will include items such as one gallon of milk, one pound of butter, eggs, sausage, cheese, bread, pancakes, Uncrustables, cereal, 100% fruit juice, and fresh produce.”

The funds also provide after school snacks for the Pathfinders program at Wayne Elementary School during the school year.

“From Jan. 1 through March 31, 2026, parents and community members throughout Radnor rounded up at the register to support Radnor Township School District efforts to eliminate childhood hunger,” said the district’s release.
