Bomb scare in Ardmore cleared without incident, police say
Though there was plenty of cause for concern, Lower Merion Police said that a recent call for a “bomb device found” turned out to be nothing dangerous to the community.
According to county dispatch, around 11:18 a.m. on Nov. 24, police were called to the Armen Chevrolet service station for the call of a “bomb device found.” Upon reporting to the location along the unit block of Greenfield Avenue in Ardmore, police said they were shown to a black Ford F-150 truck.
Dispatch noted that service center employees found four to five “sticks of dynamite and a pipe bomb” in the bed of a truck that was being worked on at the service station. Employees told police they parked the vehicle “as far away from the building as they can get it” before alerting authorities.
Lower Merion Police issued a statement noting that there was no danger to those in the area.
“A suspicious package was discovered … in the Ardmore area. Out of an abundance of caution, officers established a perimeter and notified the Montgomery County Bomb Squad,” said the public service announcement. “The package was examined and determined to be inert, posing no threat to the community. There is no need to shelter in place or to be concerned further, as the incident has been fully resolved.”
Det. Sgt. Ian Thornton said that all were safe at all times.
“There were no dangers present at any time, and police action taken was out of an abundance of caution,” said Thornton in an email to Fideri News Network.
No injuries, nor issues were reported from the scene.
