Lower Merion Township prepares for ‘spring clean-up weekends’ in April
Although snow continues to come and go throughout the region, Lower Merion Township is already planning to aid residents’ spring-cleaning efforts.
This April, the township is offering two “spring clean-up weekends,” during which residents can drop off unwanted small household appliances, textiles, recyclables including plastic, glass, paper and aluminum, and “plain old trash.”
Some of the materials dropped off will go to a good cause: the township noted that nonprofit organizations will be on hand to collect unwanted computers, bicycles, furniture and more.
There are a few caveats, though: no TVs, construction or demolition debris, or oil-based paint will be accepted, and latex paint must be hardened for disposal. Recyclable materials also must be separated from other household trash.
Those who want to participate must bring proof of township residency as well as a $20 per-vehicle entry fee, which will be collected at the gate.
The clean-up weekends will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on April 11-12 and April 25-26 at the Koegel Complex in Penn Valley.
