There’s a new boutique in Ardmore for dogs
Mila’s Pup Tienda recently opened at 18 East Lancaster Ave.

Dayanna Cardenas of Ardmore recently opened Mila’s Pup Tienda at 18 E. Lancaster Ave. in Ardmore’s business district.
Having come to the United States from Colombia 12 years ago and spent years working as an industrial engineer, Cardenas said she had always dreamed of opening a pet boutique. While living in Ardmore, she spent time looking for a space and found an available storefront in a location she said had been a tattoo parlor for several years and then briefly a tailor’s shop.
Now that her shop is open, she’s hoping to create a community place for dog owners in the Ardmore area.
“We are a family-owned pet boutique dedicated to providing high-quality, thoughtfully selected products for your furry companions,” according to a post on her shop’s website. “Proudly run by an immigrant woman, our shop offers organic and nutritious treats, durable toys, stylish collars, and more sourced primarily from local brands with a social mission.”
During a recent visit to her new shop, Cardenas said the vast majority of the items stocked in the store are from businesses located in the Philadelphia region, and many are women-owned businesses.
According to Cardenas, many of those businesses also donate to causes such as pet adoption services.
“On top of them being local and small businesses, they are also high quality,” Cardenas said about the products in her shop.
She also stocks a few other things that can act as gifts, such as candles, art and bookmarks.
In addition to items for sale, the space at Mila’s Pup Tienda can be rented for pet parties, and the shop hosts free doggy playtime on Sundays. More information and a form to fill out are available on her shop’s website.
Cardenas said she decided to offer the playtime to help build a community of pet owners who can meet, since there are no dog parks in Ardmore.
“So I wanted this to be a space for the local dog-owning community to grow together and for people to meet each other,” Cardenas said.
Another option at Mila’s Pup Tienda is the handcrafted cakes for special occasions, such as a pup’s birthday.
The name Cardenas chose for the store comes from her 7-year-old dog, Mila, who is often found in the store with her as the store’s official greeter.
The items for sale in her store are also available to order through her website. For more information on her store, go to www.milaspuptienda.com.
